American cellist, child prodigy, played for presidents Dwight Eisenhower John F. Kennedy when he was seven, graduated from the Juilliard School and Harvard University.

Has recorded more than 92 albums and received 19 Grammy Awards. Huge classical repertoire, also recorded American bluegrass, traditional Chinese melodies, tangos, has collaborated with Carlos Santana, Sting, James Taylor, Miley Cyrus. 

United Nations Messenger of Peace, Avery Fisher Prize, Presidential Medal of Freedom, Kennedy Center Honors, one of Time's 100 Most Influential People of 2020.

Yo-Yo & Co. is a 2003 painting (study) by Frederic Marsanne, the leading artist in the house where he lives... Frederic has exhibited at MKL GALLERY in Somerville, MA, Ambassador Galleries in Soho, NY, and was chosen to exhibit in a juried show at the New Rochelle Art Association Annual in New Rochelle, NY.

Note to self: Take on this challenge: Paint a portrait of Yo-Yo capturing how he received his bachelor's degree in anthropology from Harvard in 1976 to become a cellist... (I shall relate, having attended the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard to become... a painter.)

Yo-Yo's primary performance instrument is the Davidov cello, made in 1712 by Antonio Stradivari. I stare at my paintbrush - manufactured at a plant somewhere in 2023 by (who knows?). From the age of three, Yo-Yo played the violin, drums, piano, but settled on the cello in 1960 at age four.
