This painting holds profound significance for me. Initially conceived as a standalone artwork, it also marks a significant conceptual milestone and serves as a preliminary study for my upcoming 3D project titled 'The Aquarium.'
At times, I find myself pondering whether the fish depicted are truly lifeless. They seem to pulsate with vitality, resembling a lively school—perhaps mackerel—brimming with energy, despite—or perhaps because of—the crowded, messy, and disorienting scene. I eagerly anticipate witnessing the evolution of 'The Aquarium' project and how it encapsulates this dynamic essence.

The colors—reds, purples, blues reminiscent of bruises—evoke 'Jesustein' and subtly suggest themes of mortality. Could the fish serve as an artistic or symbolic trope, reminding us of the inevitability of death—a memento mori? Nothing's out of scale here, as the title of the painting suggests. 'Fish Market - Not out of Scales' explores a bustling marketplace with its stalls, or is it a "Pet Sematary"?
