Frederic Marsanne: Artist's Bio

Frederic Marsanne is a multi-genre painter and author based in Milford, CT, USA. With a background spanning diverse careers—from baker and flight attendant to investor, entrepreneur, and corporate diplomat—and travels to over 100 countries, Marsanne brings a unique perspective and a wellspring of inspiration to his art and storytelling. His works, influenced by artists like Andrea Mantegna, Lucian Freud, and Gerhard Richter, explore the representational, the narrative, and the psychological through abstraction.

Marsanne chronicles his experiences and ideals through the substantial application of oil to canvas. His weighty brushstrokes reveal his family’s history during World War II, his global travels, and his reflections on world politics, freedom, and justice. Ever attuned to the intersection of history, politics, and creativity, Marsanne observes, “There is a right side and a left side in any painting. So, any artwork has the potential to be political.”

He has exhibited at MKL Gallery in Somerville, MA, Ambassador Galleries in Soho, NY, and the New Rochelle Art Association Annual. Summing up his creative philosophy, Marsanne states, “I am not in the business of selling art; I am in the art of buying your attention."
